You need to know why your HP printer won't print in black and solution to it.

While using HP Printers, one of the most common issues that you will come across is that your hp printer won’t print black. This could happen due to a number of reasons and you are required to find the root cause in order to solve the issue of hp printer not printing black. Try to resolve printing error

There is a slight chance that not only your hp printer won’t print black; it just won’t print at all. Use the following points to rectify this error-

· Switch off your printer and disconnect it from the power source. Disconnect the USB Cables and reconnect them after few minutes.

· You will find an option to ‘Print test page’ on your printer. Select it.

· Check the printer ink levels and volume on the display screen. You might not be able to see it if you use aftermarket cartridges. Make sure you use original hp cartridges only.

If your hp printer won’t print black after following the above points then go through the below mentioned steps to troubleshoot the problem-

Step 1- Remove the plastic cover off your cartridge

There is a possibility that you might have forgotten to take off the plastic tape from your new black ink cartridge in which case your hp printer won’t print black. This is a common mistake but can be fixed easily. Try again after removing the plastic cover.

Step 2- Check ink cartridge

Your printer has LCD touch screen panels that show the level of ink.

Use control panel to navigate to ‘Ink Levels’

The process to check might differ from printer to printer. Please go through the manual just to be clear.

Step 3: Clean the Cartridge when hp printer won’t print black

There might be some dirt which would stop the hp printer from printing black. Use a cotton swab to clean the ink cartridge. Wipe away all the dirt or dried ink from the print header with the help of a cloth or cotton. Make sure you also clean the printer heads and then try again.

Step 4: Check Print Cartridge Alignment

You should run “Self-Test Diagnostic” and “Print Cartridge Alignment” to remove the problem of black ink not printing. If you receive an error message ‘Print cartridge alignment failed’ then you are required to follow the below troubleshooting steps.

  1. Load A4 size paper

  2. Select the ‘Setup’ button

  3. Now scroll down to select Tools and then press OK

  4. Again drag your cursor down to select Align Print Cartridges and then click on OK

  5. Now, your printer will adjust and you can print an alignment page

Step 5: Run a Diagnostic Software

If none of the above troubleshooting procedures come to your rescue then you are required to download and run the “HP Print and Scan Doctor” software provided by the company. Here are the steps you have to go through to solve the HP printer won’t print black issue.

· Install the “HP Print and Scan Doctor” from the official site

· Now run this software and click on the “Start” button from your Window screen

· Choose your usable printer from the list and then drag your cursor to select “Next”

· On the next screen, select ‘Fix Printing’

· This installed software will try to diagnose and fix the printer’s not printing black issue.

The above mentioned points will surely fix your ‘printer won’t print black issues’. However we suggest you to get your printer serviced if the problem still persists.

If you need to print urgently and the quality of the printouts is not an issue then you can print in backup mode.

If you are out of replacement cartridge, you can still print in ink backup mode. Just remove the defected cartridge and print with the remaining cartridge
